Business Development Representative

  • Oct 27, 2028
  • Meridian, Mississippi, United States
  • Full-time
  • Sales

We are a software company serving specialized business markets through two software product lines:

  • Family Entertainment Business Management Software: Software designed for family entertainment centers, including bowling alleys, skating rinks, amusement parks, arcades, trampoline parks, and similar businesses.
  • Financial Business Management Software: Business software serving the rent-to-own and check-cashing industries and other similar markets.

We are looking for a motivated, resourceful, and relationship-oriented Business Development Representative to help expand our reach within these industries.

This position is focused on identifying new business opportunities, building relationships with prospective customers, and generating qualified leads for our existing sales team. You will focus on opening doors, identifying potential buyers, and creating meaningful sales opportunities.

The ideal candidate combines strong B2B prospecting skills with an understanding of business software and technology. Existing relationships within one or more of our target industries are a significant advantage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and research prospective customers within family entertainment, rent-to-own, check-cashing, and related industries.
  • Generate qualified sales leads through cold calling, email outreach, networking, LinkedIn, industry directories, referrals, and other prospecting methods.
  • Leverage existing professional relationships and develop new connections with business owners, executives, operators, and other key decision-makers.
  • Initiate conversations to understand prospective customers' businesses, current systems, challenges, and potential interest in software solutions.
  • Qualify prospects based on business fit, potential need, decision-maker access, and readiness for further discussion.
  • Arrange introductions, qualified appointments, and meaningful sales opportunities for the company's existing sales team.
  • Maintain accurate prospect information, contact histories, lead qualification details, and follow-up activities in HubSpot or a comparable CRM.
  • Research industry trends, associations, events, and networking opportunities that can help expand the company's reach.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to refine target markets, improve lead quality, and develop effective prospecting strategies.
  • Track outreach activity, qualified leads, appointments, and other agreed-upon performance metrics.
  • Travel occasionally for relevant industry events, networking opportunities, or business development activities as needed.

Qualifications

Required or strongly preferred:

  • Demonstrated experience in B2B sales, business development, lead generation, sales development, inside sales, or outbound prospecting.
  • Experience initiating conversations with prospective customers and identifying qualified sales opportunities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate professionally with business owners and decision-makers.
  • Ability to research target accounts, identify relevant contacts, and develop an organized prospecting strategy.
  • Self-motivation, persistence, organization, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Comfort using CRM systems, prospecting tools, and standard business technology.

Highly desirable:

  • Experience generating leads for B2B software, SaaS, POS systems, IT services, or other business technology solutions.
  • Existing relationships with owners, executives, operators, or decision-makers in family entertainment centers, rent-to-own businesses, check-cashing businesses, or related industries.
  • Familiarity with HubSpot, Salesforce, or similar CRM platforms.
  • Working knowledge of business software, computer hardware, IT systems, or technology used to operate customer-facing businesses.
  • Experience developing prospect lists, executing outbound campaigns, and producing qualified meetings or sales pipeline for an established sales team.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry associations, trade shows, professional networks, or other channels for reaching potential customers.

Candidates with strong prospecting skills and established relationships in either of our target markets are encouraged to apply. Experience in both markets is not required.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means consistently creating meaningful opportunities for our sales team to pursue. Performance will be evaluated based on the quality and relevance of leads, access to appropriate decision-makers, qualified appointments or introductions, and contribution to the sales pipeline.

We value productive relationships and qualified opportunities over simply generating large lists of names or making a high volume of calls without meaningful results.

Who Will Thrive in This Role?

The right person enjoys finding opportunities others might overlook, knows how to get a conversation started, and understands that effective business development is about reaching the right people with a relevant message.

You may be an excellent fit if you have built a network in one of our target industries, have a strong background in outbound B2B prospecting, or can combine both skills to help our company reach new customers.

This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys opening doors, building professional relationships, and helping a sales team succeed.
